Jack's Letter to Santa

Well, I'm just sick about this, but I cannot find it! Seems I tucked it away in a place not even I can find. So, if I find it...I'll post it later...in a new post.

Happy Anniversay of joining the Air Force

16 years ago today we were in a little room in Rudder tower at Texas A&M University as Col Downs commissioned Andy into the Air Force as a 2Lt.

Since this day the AF has sent us to Kansas, Los Angeles, Wichita Falls (for school), Alabama (for school), Mississippi (for school), Turkey, San Antonio, Houston, Virginia, Northern California and now Colorado. And...he's not retired yet!

The end to basketball season

Okay, this is a bit out of order. Saturday was the last game for both Madi and Jack. Here are some pics from that day.
Note how Madi is sitting like a lady...

Jack continues to crack me up...

Not only did he keep giving me time updates all morning (he was wearing a watch...note to self to find a spot to hide it for awhile)...but then he goes on and on about that silly gift wrap cutter and pop-up tape dispenser. Apparently, the pop-up thingy "keeps both hands free so you can wrap presents"...yes that's the ad slogan from TV! Isn't that a crack up? Oh, and at lunch I was informed that Kraft Mac n Cheese is "The Cheesiest". (I think he is watching too much TV as of late!) Oh and, he finally got to wrap a present using the full compliment of "safer and easier" tools and I'm happy to report that he was beyond tickled!

Mommy, it's 6-3-8

Every morning since the day we moved into our home in CA...almost 4 yrs ago...Jack has gotten up with the sun (or before), climbed in bed with us and snuggled. He LOVES nothing more than a good snuggle. Truth be told, he is not the best "giver" of a snuggle b/c he wiggles constantly and really doesn't allow the snuggl-ee (me or Andy) to sleep even one more wink. So this morning, I awake as Jack is slithering into the bed next to me, wiggling his toes, flopping his arms alternately over my back and...to the sound of his voice saying, "Mommy, it's 6-3-0." Fully hoping I can go back to sleep for a few minutes, I say, "OK." About 45 seconds later I hear, "Mommy, it's 6-3-1." Then, "Mommy, it's 6-3-2." Then he says, "It's 6-3-3." Followed by, "It's 6-3-4." In my sleepy-foggy brain I start to see a pattern emerging. "It's 6-3-4." "I say, Ok Jack, thank you." He counters with, "It's 6-3-5....6-3-6...6-3-7." I finally ask, "Jack, why do you keep telling me the time every minute?" I guess he sees the bigger picture I am trying to point out and he says, "Oh, okay I'll stop." I contentedly think, "Okay now I'll get a few more minutes of shut-eye." About 30 seconds pass and he says, "Mommy, it's 6-3-8." At this point...I get up.

Jack's Pre-school Holiday Performance

Wednesday was Jack's music performance. He was so excited and had been practicing all his songs for awhile. He is the one with the red antlers in the pic just below.

The little treats we brought for the occasion.

This was actually taken the next day at rest time. I guess he just konked out while reading.

Safer and easier...

For several days the kids have been enthralled by Scotch brand's new gift wrap cutter. It has been shown on countless TV ads along with the ingenious pop-up tape dispenser. Madi has suggested many times over that we "need" one of each. So....today I'm running through Target and Jack literally screams, "Mommy!" So, I whirl around and find him staring at the 3M display. With all the enthusiasm you can imagine he says, "There it is...it's safer and easier (the tagline from the commercial). We need one! But where is the tape thingy?" (The tape thingy was oh-so-conveniently stocked two steps away.) So, like a"sheep"I bought them and we are now owners of 3M's Gift wrap cutter and handy-dandy pop-up tape dispenser. 3M's marketing sure worked on my kiddos...and thus me! And, it tickles me...Jack is beyond thrilled!
