Halloween 2009

Jack and Madi got to wear costumes to school. I love how their school allows this! They both had class parties, too.

Jack's kinder party...

Madi's 3rd grade party...

Halloween morning we went on a hayride with friends.

Then, we went to an AF volleyball game.

Then, we went Trick-or-Treating with most all the neigbor kids!

Drew's friend came over to trick-or-treat with us. He was a dragon and would roar at each door. So cute!

Our friends.

Roar!!!

Limbo, limbo!

Boy's Halloween Costumes

Saturday morning I drove to Denver to stake out the first spot in line at the kid's resale shop where Halloween costumes were being put on sale. The mission was a success. After several hours in line, a few cups of coffee and a lot of quiet reading time...I got the exact costumes that Jack and Drew had hoped for. Look at these two very happy boys!

Halloween!

Halloween was so much fun! Drew was very into it. I assumed he wouldn't want to wear his hat, but when he saw Madi and Jack all dressed up he couldn't wait to put his costume on. He never even tried once to remove his hat!
Some great memories include:
1) The moment my eyes opened even the slightest bit...Jack (who had climbed in bed and was snuggled right up to me) said with much enthusiasm, "Happy Halloween, Mommy!"
2) Drew walking around holding Andy's hand while clutching his pumpkin flashlight under his arm. Daddy is so tall. Drew is so little.
3) Drew loves pumpkins. Everytime he sees one he says "Munkin". In my head I'll always hear him saying munkin...even when he is a grown man.
4) Hearing the kids squeal and shriek "trick or treat" up and down the street (we went around with 6 other neighbor kids).
5) Hearing all about the house one block over that had set up a haunted house outside. The kids loved it!
6) Some funny costumes that came to our door...the young boy with the magnet around his neck that had yellow birds glued to it=Chick Magnet; the two girls that came all decked out but covered in blood=one had "stabbed the other in the back"; the kids whose name was Joe who came with his clothes all disheveled=Sloppy Joe; the boy who came as a ref with coke bottle glasses=blind ref.

Madilyn was a Can Can dancer. Jack was Spiderman. Drew was Pablo from The Backyardigans. They all were so happy with their costumes and so cute!

Just before Jack's school party...he is shooting webs...look at his hands.

His best friend at school.

More party pictures.

Pumpkin carving with mountains in the background. I'm still not jaded at seeing the mountains.

Ours is the one on the bottom. The pirate pumpkin is one I won as a door prize earlier in the week.

The first group pic of the night...just before Drew took a header onto the concrete.

Smiling through the tears...

All ready to go...

Jack loved those muscles but was so honest he felt he had to tell you they were made out of "cotton balls".

The haul...and very happy kids!!!!

Halloween!

Wow! What a fun two days. The kids have been beside themselves with excitment. Jack has been counting down for days now. The first thing he said to me this morning was "It's Halloween Day!" Here are some pics of our Halloween.

Pumpking carving on Tuesday night.

The finished jack-o-lanterns!

We lit them to make sure we liked how they looked. Madi's is on the left. Jack's is on the right and Drew's is in the middle--one tooth... just like him.

The boys at Daddy's work for the Halloween Parade this morning.

A couch cuddle this evening.

I say Drew could make a mean Gene Simmons next year.

The kids all ready to go trick-or-treating! Madi was a beautiful angel with maribou trim and silver accents. She looked lovely and she adored her costume. I could tell she felt super pretty. Jack told her she was the prettiest angel. Jack was Batman and he thought he was the coolest. He sang and danced the Batman song before we left our porch tonight...in full costume. He also did alot of running so his cape would fly out behind him like he was flying. Drew was Superman. Jack said he was "Big Batman" and Drew was "Lil' Superman".

Madi and the jack-o-lantern she designed and carved.

Jack and his jack-o-lantern.

Drew and his jack-o-lantern. See the resemblance? Click on it to blow it up and you can see his tooth.

All the kids who went around together tonight.

The post trick-or-treating stash! Jack could hardly help himself. I told them 5 pieces each. He ate six and said, "Oh sorry mommy." Then, ate another and then another. Each time saying with full emotion..."Oh, sorry mommy." The candy-monster had taken hold of him!

This is how we handed out candy tonight with no one home to man the door. When I got home...it was completely empty!

Madilyn thought I should NOT be a "Tired Mommy" for Halloween. She suggested I be a Rockstar and wear neat sunglasses and my "Eye tacks" so I could see. Ouch!
