Weekend ski trip

We stayed in Breckendridge, but skiied at Keystone b/c it was a better area for kids to learn. Turned out it was even better than expected b/c we could use our season passes to ride to the top and watch ski school. And, Andy could ski a bit. Here are some pics:

The three kids early Saturday morning right before Madi and Jack were whisked away to ski school...on the top of the mountain!

After re-grouping at the car with a snack and water...Andy, Drew and I rode up the mountain on the gondola and met up with Madi and Jack while they were having lunch.

Andy went for a short ski...first time in 10 years

Drew and I played in the snow...

and played in the lodge by the fire...while snacking.

Jack's class got started again... He is in the blue jacket with the red vest.

He liked it and said he was the best in his class. He ultimately would like to snowboard, but that will have to wait awhile.

Then, I caught up with Madilyn as her class was coming up the "Magic Carpet" on the bunny slope.

She liked it, too. I think she found she was better at skiing than she thought she would be.

Drew and I rode the gondola down the mountain...

Bathtime back at the room.

Blue Moose for Sunday breakfast...

(Jack is doing a "pose" not a pout in both pics)

Drew poo pooed in the potty!

I will spare you a photo of the end result, but Drew happily sat on the potty for about 5 minutes just now. In the end, he pooped and is very, very pleased with himself.

Drew

Drew's favorite two new words are NO and MINE.
I got him a shirt that defines Toddler Laws of Property.
If I like it...it's mine.
If it's in my hand...it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago...it's mine.
If it looks just like mine...it's mine.
If I think it's mine...it's mine.

That pretty much sums it up...throw in a few no's and that's how conversations are going recently.

Jack wants to be...when he grows up

A Hot Wheels driver!

Madi's artwork

Madilyn submitted some artwork that she hopes will be selected as the cover of the school yearbook. If not that, then she hopes it at least wins for the 2nd grade class.

Halloween!

Halloween was so much fun! Drew was very into it. I assumed he wouldn't want to wear his hat, but when he saw Madi and Jack all dressed up he couldn't wait to put his costume on. He never even tried once to remove his hat!
Some great memories include:
1) The moment my eyes opened even the slightest bit...Jack (who had climbed in bed and was snuggled right up to me) said with much enthusiasm, "Happy Halloween, Mommy!"
2) Drew walking around holding Andy's hand while clutching his pumpkin flashlight under his arm. Daddy is so tall. Drew is so little.
3) Drew loves pumpkins. Everytime he sees one he says "Munkin". In my head I'll always hear him saying munkin...even when he is a grown man.
4) Hearing the kids squeal and shriek "trick or treat" up and down the street (we went around with 6 other neighbor kids).
5) Hearing all about the house one block over that had set up a haunted house outside. The kids loved it!
6) Some funny costumes that came to our door...the young boy with the magnet around his neck that had yellow birds glued to it=Chick Magnet; the two girls that came all decked out but covered in blood=one had "stabbed the other in the back"; the kids whose name was Joe who came with his clothes all disheveled=Sloppy Joe; the boy who came as a ref with coke bottle glasses=blind ref.

Madilyn was a Can Can dancer. Jack was Spiderman. Drew was Pablo from The Backyardigans. They all were so happy with their costumes and so cute!

Just before Jack's school party...he is shooting webs...look at his hands.

His best friend at school.

One of his teachers.

His other teacher.

More party pictures.

Pumpkin carving with mountains in the background. I'm still not jaded at seeing the mountains.

Ours is the one on the bottom. The pirate pumpkin is one I won as a door prize earlier in the week.

The first group pic of the night...just before Drew took a header onto the concrete.

Smiling through the tears...

All ready to go...

Jack loved those muscles but was so honest he felt he had to tell you they were made out of "cotton balls".

The haul...and very happy kids!!!!

Drew getting ready for bed...

Papa and Zuza surprised the kids!

Papa and Zuza flew into town two Fridays ago and surprised the kids. We had a whirlwind weekend filled with book reading, basketball, grilling out, Garden of the Gods, the zoo, board games, a birthday celebration and High School Musical 3. Whew!

Jack at his first basketball practice.

Enjoying pie outside b/c the weather was so perfectly mild!
